About this Latin Mass directory

This Latin Mass directory lists only the Mass of the 1962 Roman Missal, celebrated by priestly societies, religious orders and diocesan clergy alike. It is built from the public directories these communities publish themselves, refreshed automatically, and cross-checked: a location confirmed by several sources carries more weight than one seen once.

Times change, and a printed hour is never a promise. Where a community publishes its Sunday schedule we reproduce it; where it does not, the page says so and gives you the telephone number instead. Call before you drive.

Questions

What is the Traditional Latin Mass?
The Mass of the Roman rite as codified in the 1962 Missal — the last edition before the liturgical reform. It is celebrated in Latin, the priest and people facing the same direction, according to books in continuous use for centuries.
How do I find a Latin Mass near me?
Pick your country, then your city. Each city page lists every church and chapel we know of within reach of the city centre, with the Sunday times that are published — the places you can actually go to first. It is a Latin Mass locator rather than a map: no search box to fill in, one page per city, and every location on it.
Which Catholic churches have a Latin Mass?
Parishes entrusted to the Fraternity of St Peter or the Institute of Christ the King, chapels of the Society of St Pius X, monasteries of several orders, and a number of diocesan parishes that keep one Sunday Mass in the older rite. The community is shown on every entry, so you know whose Mass you are going to before you leave.
Is the Tridentine Mass the same as the Latin Mass?
In ordinary use, yes. "Tridentine Mass" names the rite codified after the Council of Trent and fixed in the 1962 Missal; "Traditional Latin Mass" is the common English name for the same thing. The reformed Mass of 1969 can also be said in Latin, which is why this directory says 1962 rather than simply "in Latin".
Is the Traditional Latin Mass still allowed?
It is still offered, every Sunday, in the churches listed here. Since Traditionis custodes (16 July 2021) the permissions granted in 2007 run through the local bishop, and the arrangements differ from one diocese to the next — which is precisely why an address found online is worth a telephone call before the drive.
Do I need to know Latin to attend?
No. Most congregations use a bilingual missal with the Latin and your own language side by side, and many chapels keep spare copies at the door.
Are these Masses approved?
The directory lists locations served by societies in full communion (FSSP, Institute of Christ the King, diocesan clergy) alongside chapels of other traditions. Where a chapel's own directory states that the Canon does not name the reigning Pope, the page says so.
